About Us

A Special District in Southern Clatsop County on the Northwest Oregon Coast

Seaside hasn’t always had a hospital, the taxing district called Union Health District was established in 1964 by the residents at the time to ensure that a hospital would be available for the community. Then in 1968 the tax payers of the health district passed a bond levy to build a new hospital. A few years later in 1981 the district signed a lease agreement with the Sisters of Providence to manage the hospital, and the relationship has continued through lease agreement extensions and updates over the years. UHD owns the land & the hospital building, and meet regularly to channel taxpayer funds to projects and areas that will help to keep the hospital open and benefitting our community, while the Sisters of Providence operate the hospital.
